Housing in Frankfurt
Frankfurt is a popular city to live and study in – which makes the housing market very competitive, especially at the beginning of the semester.
Start looking for accommodation as early as possible – ideally before arriving in Germany.
🔑 Key Facts
- Goethe University does not provide student housing. This is managed by Studierendenwerk Frankfurt.
- Waiting times for dormitory rooms can be long – sometimes up to a year or more.
- We recommend exploring alternative housing options early and informing yourself about costs, which vary by location, size, and furnishings.
Support for international students
Furnished single rooms for non-EU students in their first semester of an English-language Master's program.
- Applications open on August 5, 2025 at 4:00 PM (a link will be sent via email).

In addition to university-related support, you can also search for accommodation independently on various private platforms. These are commonly used by students and locals to find shared flats, rooms, or small apartments:

- 🔗 ImmobilienScout24 (ImmoScout) – Large real estate portal for apartments and houses.
- 🔗 eBay Kleinanzeigen (now called Kleinanzeigen.de) – Classifieds website with housing offers (mainly in German).
📘 Facebook Groups
You can also search for Facebook Groups that help students find rooms or apartments. Use keywords like:
